Nobody could have predicted that the girl could keep her end up.
What does "keep one's end up" mean? Is it a fixed phrase?
U.S. Forest Service officials are reminding people to stay off Forest Service roads that are closed. The fine for disobeying the rule of road closures is a maximum of $5,000 fine and/ or six months in prison. Those who enter the area and cause road damage may also be required to pay for repairs.
According to the underlined part, my question if a man violates the law, will he be fined together with a prison sentence? Or will he be fined or just be sentenced for six months?
Thanks |

"Keeping one's end up" means doing one's share. (Maybe the analogy is with several people carrying something heavy).
In the second question, the words "and/or" mean that either option OR both options are possible - it will depend on what the court decides. |
