Our sled had knocked quietly into a snow bank, and our friends were slapping us now, saying Cool and You could have died.
What does "slapping" mean?
Thanks |

From what I see here, I suspect it means that their friends were slapping them on the back or shoulders, in a sort of roughly boyish, congratulatory manner...as boys who grow up in places with snowy winters are inclined to do, especially after seeing their friends plow into a choice snow bank.
Been there. Done that. These people in Taiwan have no idea what they're missing!
