Dear teathers,
I have a question about the difference of bathroom, W.C., restroom, toilet and lavatory. Are their meaning the same? If it is not,how to use them or what different meanings they are.
Thank you.
BEST WISHES

The bathroom is the room in the house where there is a sink, toilet bowl, bathtub or shower. In a public place, and sometimes at home, the room with sinks, toilet bowls, and (for men's rooms) urinals is called the restroom, toilet, washroom, lavatory (which means washroom), W.C. (for water closet), or bathroom.
In the U.S., we use the term toilet to mean toilet bowl, while elsewhere toilet means the room, not just the bowl. Toilet actually refers to cleaning up. We also call restrooms the men's room or ladies' room, or just the facilities. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
