What is "black care"? And I like to know the original of T. Roosevelt.
“Black care never catches a rider whose pace is fast enough,” he said at one point, offering a slight variation on something Theodore Roosevelt once said. “You got that?” _________________ Hiromichi |

Hello Hiromichi -
'black Care' = ill humo(u)r; melancholy; depression; etc.
(some argue - bad luck or the devil)
from Horace (Satires) "Care, a black companion dogs and follows a man who flees"
Theodore ('Teddy') Roosevelt - "Black care rarely sits behind a rider whose pace is fast enough."
Interesting 'lapsus' in the use of "catch" by 'Blogo', don't you think? Philo |
