B.J. upton is still nursing a tight right quadriceps muscle,so he was

not in the Ray's starting lineup Tuesday night.

The Rays every day center fielder said he was available for pinch-

hitting duty Tuesday night and he expects to be back in the lineup for

Wednesday night's game against the Mariners.

Upton left Sundays game against the White Sox after two innings when his leg tightened up.

=>[tight right quadriceps ]<=

If you are sitting right now, the quads are the muscles that make up your lap. The player's quads on his right leg were tight, maybe with a slight pull or something, and he did not want to risk injury by playing the game, so he sat it out. Center field requires sprinting to catch the ball and throwing it hard back to the infield, so the player should be sure of his legs before taking the field. However, he thought he could come in to bat if needed.
