Hi, teachers
Is this sentence OK? "Nanotechnology is defined by the scale at which it acts."
I thought the word "scale" should go with "on", as in "on a large scale." Is "at" also a possibility?

In this sentence, yes. It's just fine. There are more ways to use the word scale than just the phrases on a small/large scale. Now, don't go away thinking that you can say something operates at a small/large scale...we just don't normally say that. That's not what I mean. I just mean that in the grammatical structure of the above sentence, at works.
