What are the implied (hidden) meanings of the following:

1> "Good to see you again, Helen. You've lost some weight, haven't you?"

2> "Brrr! It's sure cold in this house!"

Thank you!

Hello!
These are great questions. Implied meanings can be important to know.

1> "Good to see you again, Helen. You've lost some weight, haven't you?"
The implied meaning here is that Helen looks great! The speaker is giving her a compliment by asking if she has lost weignt.

2> "Brrr! It's sure cold in this house!"
The implied meaning here is that the speaker is cold, and wants to ask if the heat can be turned up to a comfortable temperature.

Does this help?
