Dear Teachers,
Today, my room-mate kept a pot on the stove and almost forgot about it.
It became so hot and to get my room-mate's attention, I cried out loud:
Code: |
Look, your pot is on fire! |
Is that the natural way of saying that?
Or how a native speaker would have expressed his/her thoughts?
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Sabrina. |

Hi, Sabrina,
Your sentence is correct, but we would only use "on fire" if there are actual flames.
As a native speaker, I would likely say something like, "Your pot is overheating!" Or, "Your pot is burning!"
Does that help? |

Thank you Suzanne.
I'm now clear with the usage.
Regards,
Sabrina. |
