Which of is a better choice? Why?

Answer A. as me is the better (most would say the correct) choice.

When we talk about height, it's true that we sometimes do it in a possessive manner: What's your height? My height is 183 cm, etc. When we want to say two people are equally tall, there are two basic patterns that use the word height:

1. John is the same height as Joe.

2. John's height is the same as Joe's.

Joe's height, that is.

In the original sentence, the girl's height is not mentioned; only the girl is. Thus, I would use a structure similar to 1:

There at the door stood a girl about the same height as me.

Some may argue for as I (the subjective case), but it sounds stiffly formal and most Americans routinely use the objective case (me) in sentences like this.

Hope this is helpful.

Greg
