Hi,
What does 'in an awful fix" mean as in Love Is Strange lyrics:

Does it mean that love makes you miserable, sad, or hurt you mentally in a way that makes you look awful? Namely, in a bad shape.
Or, does it mean people in love relationship will be in a fixed state, which kind of fix you there and feel a bit strangled?

If you're in an awful fix, you're in a very bad situation or have a big problem on your hands. The word fix in this expression refers to a problematic situation.
Here, the bad situation is the fact that once you've experienced love, you never want to quit loving or being loved. The prospect of losing that love is terrifying, almost as if love were an addictive drug or something. That's my take on it.
But regardless of your overall interpretation of the lyrics, that's what the phrase basically means.
