Hello!
This is a great question.
Basis means the bottom, or the foundation of something--the main component. It's a fundamental principle or standard. It's the noun form of the verb "base."
Examples:
-The basis of democracy is that everyone has a vote.
-She was chosen on the basis of her excellent work experience.
-Workers at McDonald's are paid on an hourly basis.
Basic is an adjective. It refers to the same things as "basis."
Examples:
-The basic ingredient of bread is flour.
-Sentences are made of the same basic parts: nouns and verbs.
-Basic training is necessary for anyone in the military.
I hope this helps! |

Just to make sure I get this right...BASIC and BASIS have the same meaning, but one is a noun and the other is an adjective.
