Is the "yet" in the following sentence correct? If correct, what's the meaning? ------- the following ------- I'm tired, yet I can't sleep.

This way of using yet is equivalent to saying:

I'm tired; however, I can't sleep.
Even though I'm tired, I can't sleep.
I can't sleep, in spite of the fact that I'm tired.

...and so forth.
