Hi,
What does 'Bacon Buddy' mean in the following quote?
Quote: |
Be a Bacon Buddy, the ultimate volunteer! The BCC needs student Bacon Buddies to help with everything from A to Z. |
What else does 'Bacon buddy' mean? Is it a kind of food?
Thanks in advance.

I had to find the context on my own. A "Bacon Buddy" is a volunteer at the Bacon Computer Center at Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Illinois. A "Bacon Buddy" is essentially a student who volunteers their time to help other students with computer-related work.
Here's the site in question:

Thank you, dragon. Sorry also to have forgotten to post the link.
Besides that explanation, does bacon buddy mean anything else? Is it a kind of food? Thanks again.

No, it has no other meaning of any kind. It's simply a special phrase created by these people in this particular situation. It has nothing whatever to do with the food bacon. Apparently the computer center was named after an individual whose last name was Bacon. After all, Bacon is a last name—Sir Francis Bacon, actor Kevin Bacon, etc.

Thank you again, Greg. I think I didn't make it clear. I meant to say that besides the meaning you just explained in the link of Bacon Buddy, single out the phrase, bacon buddy, itself, does it mean any other thing? My stinct told me it has something to do with food. And later I googled and found the answer, perhaps it'd be a bit of help here.
Quote: |
The bacon buddy is a versatile sandwich for any hungry occasion. Bacon, its defining ingredient, is generally recognized as a breakfast food, however the bacon buddy takes this popular pork product beyond the A.M. period to create a hearty snack for any time. This sandwich can be characterized as "cheap and cheerful" due to its low cost, quick and easy preparation, and comforting combination of gastronimic attributes.
This sandwich is traditional English fare and as such it is well suited to manual labour, limited ingredient choices, limited budgets, and cold, damp climates. It goes as well alongside tea as it does beer.

Never heard of such a thing.
I guess you learn something new every day.
