Hello,

Can you tell me which one is correct?

1. Among her works, her favorite was shopping for groceries.

2. Among her work, her favorite was shopping for groceries.

3. OR are there better words in place of "work(s)"?

Thank you so much.

Bad news, Sabrina. They're both wrong. Crying or Very sad

In 1, when we use the word work as a countable noun, we are most typically talking about works of art. That doesn't apply here. As noble a task as it may be, shopping for groceries is not exactly a work of art.

In 2, among is used in reference to a group of countable things, but you're using work as a singular uncountable noun (which is normally the way we use it). This doesn't make sense. Not only that, but referring back to it with the phrase her favorite also makes it sound like you're referring back to a group of countable things, which you're not.

Better words? Maybe tasks, jobs, responsibilities, chores, duties, etc. It may depend on the context; however, the bottom line is that you need a countable noun in this sentence, and work doesn't work! Wink
