1. A firework display was organized to _______ the Queen�s birthday.
A. mark B. celebrate
In my dictionary, one of entries about mark is "to celebrate".
So my question is whether the two words can be replaceable in this case.

| Yes. In your example, mark, or celebrate can be used equally well. Celebrate is normally used for happy occasions, so you would not use it to mark (or commemorate) something like a death or disaster. |
