I read this: "Instead of using timber,
stone and traditional building
techniques, architects began
to explore ways of creating
buildings by using the latest
technology and materials
such as steel, glass and
concrete strengthened steel
bars, known as reinforced
concrete."
This is the case when I understand the words, but don't understand why they are in this order. Exactly I don't understand this: "... concrete strengthened steel bars". I feel that it should be - 'concrete strengthened with/by steel bars'.
Am I right?

I agree. It should be concrete strengthened with steel bars.
In fact, in the industry these bars are called Rebar it stands for reinforcing bar. |
