Hi, please help me with the following question.
The news of Philips death spread quickly.
His enemies in Greece saw their chance to break
free of Macedonian rule.
What does "break free of" mean here? Is it the same with "break free from"? Could someone paraphrase it? Thanks a lot. |

It means 'get rid of' or 'free oneself from'.
The sentence means that Philis enemies in Greece saw a chance to free themselves from the Macedonian rule. _________________ Centennial College Rocks! |
