Please help;
I'm reading "The moonspinners" by Mary Stewart.
The car from Heraklion had stopped where the path for Agios Geoegios leaves the road.
I don't understand the sentence above. Please explain.

Here's how I see this:
There is a road. There is a path that leads from the road off to a place called Agios Geoegios. At this junction is where the car traveling from Heraklion stopped.
Whether this makes sense in the context of the story, I have no clue. But that's the picture this paints in my mind.
