Hello Dear 'your name'.
I have read the following sentence and wondered if there should be the semicolon or at least a comma between 'occupied' and 'and'.
Please advise.

Here is the sentence.
'When I was young I had only sports to keep me occupied and I am grateful now that I still love and play the sports of my youth'.

Alexander.

I'd throw a comma in there, the second clause (after the and) is long enough to make it a good idea. If you did use a semicolon you'd need to remove the connecting and, but honestly I think it would change the feel too much. The two clauses are closely related and a semicolon would separate them quite a lot, but that's really a choice of style; grammatically either would be fine.
