I'm trying to formulate this thought properly and having a hard time with it. Could you please help?
"It's not only what you once did, but what you do now people will respect you for."
OR
"It's not only what you once did, but what you do now you'll be respected for."
It sounds awkward to me and I'm not sure what to do with it.
Thanks in advance! |

How does this grab you:
"People will respect you not only for what you did, but for what you do."
Or more succinctly:
"People respect not only what you did, but what you do."
