Dear teachers of English,

I am conducting a dissertation research project focused on how texts are translated from Chinese into English. It involves reading some passages and completing an online survey about them. It should only take about 40 minutes to complete. If you are a native speaker of English (born and grew up in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States, and speak English as your first language), and you have completed at least high school education (12th grade), you are eligible to participate.

You can find the translated passages and the survey by clicking on the following link or pasting the URL to your browser:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=HsfGaKi8EyxezjcLxMAQNg_3d_3d

This link will be enabled till September 30, 2009.

The website will not collect individually identifiable information.

If you wish, please pass on this email to anyone you know who qualifies for the study.

Thank you very much for your support!

I'm there. Cool

Especially interesting for me, being an English teacher in Taiwan and thus being exposed to Chinese English on a daily basis.

Thank you so much, Greg, for your support!

Where else do you think I should try to get more responses? Even facebook is down in China.

So far, I got only a handful of responses from Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Any suggestions on getting the attention of these people?

Best regards,
Cuijun

I wish I had some bright ideas for you...keep trying other English forums like this one. Beg. Cajole. Try a witty tag line. Appeal to their egos: "Is your English better than a Chinese person's? Click here and prove it!" And so on and so forth. Get creative. Wink
