Dear teachers,
We can say "over the years" or "over the centuries",but can we say "during the years" or "during the centuries"? What are the differences?
Thank you very much! |

The difference is very slight. Saying during the centuries just puts a little bit more emphasis on activities that occurred during this time, whereas over the centuries might just emphasize the passage of time. However, I can't think of a single example in which one would be right and the other would be unacceptable, and I doubt seriously that one exists.
