[1] My grandmother died on the day whose 100th birthday it was.
[2] My grandmother whose 100th birthday it was died on the day.
I am a little confused because I was told that [1] and [2] are incorrect.
Are all these sentences ackward really? |

Yes, it's awkward. You just say, "My grandmother died on her 100th birthday."
Your birthday is the day on which you were born. Your 100th birthday is the same date 100 years later, so you don't need to say,"on the day which was etc..." |
