The following are my questions:

Q. 1
Ideas about friendship differ from person to person. For the French, it is a one-to-one relationship that requires knowledge of the individuals mind, character, and interests. A friend is someone who brings out the best in one. The French enjoy talking about intellectual topics, and arguments do not destroy friendship; instead, they are essential to developing friendship.
______ Germans, they form long-lasting friendships in their childhood, and friends become part of their family.
(A) In addition (B) As for (C) As a result (D) For

The answer is (B) As for, but how about (D) For? I think that they make no difference.

Q. 2
Musical immigrant as the accordion is, it has been embraced by many cultures and ______ it to fit their own musical styles.
(A) adapted (B) adapting (C) adjust (D) being adjusted

The answer is (A) adapted, but in my opinion, it seems that there is something wrong with this sentence. Can anyone help me out?

Q. 3
He has ________ your coming for a week.
(A) waited (B) waited for (C) awaited (D) awaited for

The answer is (C), but how about (B)? Is there any difference?

Many thanks.

1.Yes, you are right it could also be "for". Still, "As for" helps to emphasise the contrast between the two.

Actually, I must say that these are sweeping generalisations that really do not apply to the French or the Germans any more than they do to the Greeks or the English.

2. Adapted is the right answer BUT you must omit the "it". So the sentence should read,"Musical immigrant as the accordion is, it has been embraced by many cultures and adapted to fit their own musical styles."

3. Awaited is correct, but it seems a bit dated to me.
Waited for is also correct.
In fact most people would say, "He has been waiting for you for a week," or "He has been expecting you for a week".
