Hi,
1. Tarzan came home from a hard day's work and said:"Jane, it's a jungle out there."
2. Reasons why it is great to be a woman:
"You can sleep your way to the top."
what's the points for laughing? (I'm not a native english speaker.)
Thanks. |

There is a saying "It's a jungle out there" which you use when you've been in a difficult, dangerous, hectic (="busy") situation. For example someone can compare their daily life at work to the danger of being in a jungle with wild animals by saying "It's a jungle out there."
It's funny here because Tarzan is famous for living in a jungle, so of course it is like being in a jungle because it IS a jungle

To "sleep your way to the top" means to get promotions and advance by having sex with important people. Here the joke is taking a different (actually the original) meaning of "sleep" as to mean "rest".
It's not as funny as the first joke and I'd be careful who you use #2 with... _________________ Try some mini, on-line adventure games to help your English at: www.gameenglish.com |
