Dear teachers,

When it comes to describing a graph, which of the following words is stronger? "considerable" or "significant"?

Someone told me that "a significant increase" is a bit more than "a slight increase", and "a considerable increase" is stronger than "a significant increase". Is it true?

I'm confused because I tend to think the other way round; that "significant" is somehow stronger than "considerable". I know I could check the dictionary for some clues, but I'd prefer to get an expert answer from you.

Thank you in advance.

Significant = extensive or important enough to merit attention.
Considerable = Notably large.
I would say "considerable" indicates a larger difference than "significant".
