Hiya,

I think I heard that it came from "It's raining fish and frogs" which has been known to really happen when a tornado pulls them from a lake or some such event.

Fish and frogs that is, not cats and dogs Smile

But as I said in another post, it's rare that anyone ever knows the true meaning behind English's stranger idioms, and you'll go nuts worrying about it Smile

Now try and find out why "go nuts" = "go crazy" Wink

I guess
Nut is food.
It has a hard shell.
So, eat nut is very hard.
Let the human who eat it go crazy.

Best wishes,
