I noticed that people use different words to express the same things when I watched movies. For instance, someone says a bucket and another says a pail. I don't know what the difference between them. Would you please tell me? Thanks very much. |

| "Pail" and "bucket" are synonyms, which means they have very similar meanings. The two words can be used interchangeably. English is filled with lots of nuances due to its influence from many different languages. The word "bucket" comes from Old English, a Germanic language, and the word "pail" comes from Old French, a Latin language. |

They are synonymous.
Both words are used to describe the same object. |
