Dear teacher,
one day,me and my friend were chating in English
(both of us are not native speakers)
She told me that she hates cold pizza
and I also don't like cold pizza
so I said"me, too!"
but she said that I supposed to say "Me, either."
Is she right about this?
and here's another question came up with it
if somebody said "I've never been to Japan."
and I have the same situation
should I say "me,too." or "me, either." ?
would you please help us?
It will be a big help
thank you |

Both are correct! In this instance, the words "either" and "too" are being used as synonyms for the word "likewise." |

No. When she said, "I hate cold pizza," you were right to say, "Me, too." It means, "I hate cold pizza, too." If you had said, "Me, either / neither," it would have meant, "I hate cold pizza either / neither," which is nonsensical.
If somebody said "I've never been to Japan."
and I have the same situation
should I say "me,too." or "me, either." ?
You would say, "Me, neither," or "Neither have I." It means, "I haven't been to Japan either."
You say "neither," not "either," because that makes it negative. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
