Please help check out the answer.

To keep all the falcons from dying out, scientists began to raise a few baby falcons in protected places. But where would they go after ______ up and _____ free?
(A) grow.�set (B) grown�.set
(C) growing.�setting (D) growing.�set

The answer is (D), but I think the answer should be "growing...being set".
Please help me out. Thanks.

I agree with you... "growing ... being set" is the right answer. D. is incorrect, as are all the others.
