Dear teachers,
We know that "as well as" has two meanings, one means "not only... but also..." , the other means " both are good", but could you tell me how to distinguish them? for example if i want to say she sings as well as she dances, can I say " she sings as well as dances?". And if I want to say she can both sing and dance , can I say " She can sing as well as dance?".
So it's a bit confusing. can you help me?
Thank you very much! |

She sings as well dances means she sings and she dances.
She sings as well as she dances means that her singing is as good as her dancing. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |

I mean if the sentence " She sings as well as dances" has two meanings---1) She sings and dances. 2) her songs are as good as her dances?
another example " She speaks English as well as French" Does it have two meanings ,too--- 1) She can speak both English and French.2) her English and French are both well spoken?
Thank you very much! |
