In a vain attempt to regain her youthful figure, she-----heavy things completely for about a month.

a cut off B.cut into C.cut down D.cut out

Here in the first analysis, B and C are definitely incorrect for the sentence.

Now, I am not sure if I should use A or D as the answer. Please could someone lend me a hand and explain why either one is being chosen as the answer.

Happy New Year monicashen

The answer to your query is D: Cut Out, as in to stop eating heavy foods to help "her" maintain her weight and "youthful figure".

Hope that helps

Kindest regards

Scottish Tiger

It's cut out, because that means eliminate.
