Hi klafterreith,
Usually the classification "Capital" is assigned to either the largest city or administrative centre of a country (eg Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, even although Glasgow is the largest city. This is because historically the king, queen and parliament have always been based in Edinburgh), so I would not usually expect to hear the phrase "capital town". Hope that this helps.
