How did you get the scar on your face?
The mother replied, __12__ my son was a baby, he was in a room that caught fire. Everyone was too afraid to go in because the fire was out of control, so I went in.
A. when B. while

I think both are right. Am I right?

thanks

Jason

This is confusing.
If the son was 12, he was not a baby.
If the mother was 12, she was probably not old enough to have a son.
So "12" is confusing me.

When my son was a baby is the correct way to say it. It means At the time my son was a baby.

While my son was a baby would mean Although my son was a baby or For the time that my son was a baby. But this refers to a specific incident in time, when the boy was a baby.

sorry for being confusing.

12 is just the number of this question.

Thank CP for your reply. Now I see.
