Hello, teachers!!
(1) Tom took a walk every day.
(2) Tom takes a walk every day.
I know that (2) is better, but can you say (1) in English?
In my opinion, "every day" is the word indicating "present tense." So I think that it is not good to use the word "took" which represents "past tense."
Thank you so much. |

(1) Tom took a walk every day.
Means he walked every day but doesn't any longer--perhaps because he is dead.
(2) Tom takes a walk every day.
Means he walks every day. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
