Hello, teachers!!
(1) The boy are taller than any other boy in his class.
(2) The three boys are taller than any other boy in his class.
(3) The three boys are taller than any other boys in his class.
I know that (1) is right, but which is a good sentence, (2) or (3)?
thank you so much. |

No. 1 is not right, because the verb is plural while the subject is singular:
(1) The boy are taller than any other boy in his class.
It should be: The boy is taller than any other boy in his class.
(2) The three boys are taller than any other boy in his class.
This one is also wrong, because of "his class." It would be fine as The three boys are taller than any other boy in the class / in their class.
(3) The three boys are taller than any other boys in his class.
Same as with no. 2. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
