(1) He told me he will give me a call.
If would is put instead of will, is it wrong?
If so, could you explain why?
Thanks a lot for your help! |

He told me he will give me a call... He said he will call me but he hasn't called yet.
He said he would give me a call:
This simply reports what he said e.g. "I'll call you." He may have called already, or he may not have called. |
