I am confused about time adverbs. I found this sentence on the internet.
The U.S. Postal Service plans to propose Tuesday an adjusted mail service schedule.
I learned that time adverbs like Monday, next week, soon, last year go at the end or the beginning of the sentence. Is the above sentence correctly written?

On Tuesday, the U.S. Postal Service plans to propose an adjusted mail service schedule.
Is better English.
Or, as you suggest, "The U.S. Postal Service plans to propose an adjusted mail service schedule on Tuesday."
It needs a preposition to be grammatically correct, but headline writers and other abusers of the English language often leave it out, as in your example. |
