pugachevV:
I found somewhere else that PRES means those who were present but did not show yes or no and that NV means those who did not vote. My question ,then, is whether NV includes PRES or shows asentees and vacancies.

I'm not sure about that, hiromichi, but it might mean, "present (but) not voting."

Perhaps one of our US friends can explain it?

Yes, these abbreviations can we very confusing as they stand for different things in different contexts!! Since it is with regard to voting, I am sure it is the jargon used in the House of Chamber, which we outsiders are not familiar with!! From what I understand, Pres refers to the people present and nv to the no votes. I think the total number of members present is given and the nv refers to the total number of people (present and absent) who has not voted! It is food for thought - will have to enquire about it and find out what it really means!!!
