Dear teachers:
I have a problem of listening. Teachers teach us to take a note when we listen to a long dialogue.
However, if I try to take a note, I can not concentrate on listening, and then I will miss it.
I wonder if there are any tips and how to training this skill. Thanks a million!
Best whishes,
Hsiang Chang. |

Taking dictation is difficult in any language. If you don't immediately understand a word it can really distract you. I used to write down a quick phonetic rendering of what I heard and try and figure it out before I handed it in. For example I don't speak Japanese, but I can render Japanese words in English characters if I hear them.
I can write Domo Arigato, which I believe sounds like the Japanese for Thank you very much, but I have no idea how to write that in Japanese characters. |
