there are many ways to say "good-bye"
I know one of them, "so long"
and what is the original meaning of "so long"?

It's been in use for at least 200 years, but I don't know its origin.

I heard this about it: "So long" is short for "So long as we're apart, be safe" or "be well" or "God be with you."
