Hello, teachers!!
(1) Mike is a reserve in the soccer club.
(2) Mike is a reserve in a soccer club.
(3) Mike is a reserve in our soccer club.
----->
I think that (3) is often used behind Mike, but I am not sure about (1) and (2).
What are the differences among the three sentences?
Thank you in advance. |

All three are correct.
The only difference is found in the article and the possessive pronoun.
A soccer club - some unspecified club.
The soccer club - a specific soccer club, that you may have been mentioned already, or can easily be deduced from what has been said.
e.g. Mike works at Siemens - --- he is a reserve in the soccer club.
Our soccer club is obvious. |
