As he is now running, so the tense of "was running" should be "is running." Am I correct ?
Alert news from the New York Times:
Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo of New York announced that
he was running for governor in a video on his Web site.

| He announced that he was running... Is correct and so is, "He announced that he is running..." |
