Hi,

I read the following:

"Turner quickly begun building up the post, often using buildings scavenged from other locations, such as Fort Bliss, which almost led to his court-martial, as he was unaware he had permission."

I just don't understand, why not saying "as he was unaware he had not permission"?

Thank you.
Tony

I would agree with you. Maybe they could have said, "as he was unaware he needed permision" or "as he was unaware he had to get permission" but as it stands it doesn't make sense to me either.
