Hello, teachers!!
When you fight someone who is so weak, you think that you don't have to fight anymore because this fight is a waste of time.
At this time, what do you say?
(1) "Tap out?"
(2) "Give up?"
(3) Both "Tap out?" and "Give up?"
(4) "Tap out?" is more often used than "Give up?"
(5) "Give up?" is more often used than "Tap out?"
Thank you in advance. |

I never heard "Tap out" in that meaning, but maybe it's British (I speak American English) or slang. If you are the stronger one, you could ask the weaker one, "Give up?" or the weaker one could say, "Stop. I give up." |

| "Tap Out" is a newer term. It is used in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. If one of the combatants is being seriously hurt in a submission hold and wishes to give up, he taps his opponent's arm, or body three times. The opponent is supposed to immediately release the hold, and the person who "Tapped out" loses the fight. |

Thanks pugachevV (we missed you). As you can guess, I have no experience with that! |

I'm touched!
I went sailing for a couple of weeks.
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may ... and all that. |
