It's pretty straightforward.
You're getting free accommodation, three meals a day when you work, and 5500 RMB after taxes each month. Plus Chinese Health care, travel allowance of 2200 RMB, and air fare at the end of your contract of 6400RMB.
You have to decide whether you want to do it. The average wage in Beijing is supposed to be in the order of $4000-5000 RMB, but you should check further. The Chinese themselves probably have to pay for accommodation and whatever taxes they have over there.
You are going to be living in a strange, interesting, foreign culture but you need to keep your mouth shut; when you open it, be polite, do your job and learn. Do not get all political or you may be there longer than you think.
The down side is that you are going to be living in a strange interesting foreign culture where political dissent is not tolerated.
Personally, I'd go for it just for the experience, but don't expect it to be like the USA as far as laws governing the workplace are concerned. Also, don't expect the same degree of legal protection if you get into a dispute with your employer. |
