At the beginning expresses the time when an event takes place
At the beginning of May.
It is fairly precise.
In the beginning expresses a period of time during which an event happens. It is less precise and may cover a longer period.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. In the beginning we were very much in love...
And so on. |
