(1)Thanks for taking time to help us out. (2)Thanks for taking the time to help us out. Are both sentences correct? Does 'take the time' have different meaning from 'take time'? Thanks a lot for your help!

Of the two, I prefer, "Thanks for taking the time to help us out." The is not strictly necessary in informal conversation.
