Let's say, I am in a shoe store and liked one shoe which was on display. I see only one shoe (left one) on the wrack, so I ask the sales person to bring me the other shoe (right one) so that I could try both. In that case, what is the expression I should use to refer to the other shoe as in, "Would you bring me the other shoe"?
Thank you. |

No, my question was not to confirm whether "the other shoe" is proper or not. Once when I was in a shoe store, the sales person actually said, "I will bring another pair," but in fact, he brought the other shoe (to match with the shoe that I was holding).
So my question here is, when you want "the other half" of a pair, what pronoun or noun do you use? Or does English have the word for it?
(E.g, you are missing the other half of a pair of scissor, shoe, eye glasses, and so on.)
Thank you. |

As Lorikeet says, your suggestion is correct and normal.
You can't have half of a pair of scissors, or eyeglasses (unless they're broken) though.

That sounds odd to me, unless he went to look for another pair and could only find the shoe to match the one you had. |
