Hello,

I have come across a complecated sentence in a presentation.

The extract:

Let the Data talk:

- 39 straight months without an OSHA Recordable injury
- Tool control procedures and kitting of engine model specific borescope special tooling

Could you explain the last sentence?
As far as I understand they have got new tool control procedures and...
I can not put the words together in a proper sequence in my head.

Alex.

The last sentence is not a proper sentence. It is more like a paragraph heading or title.

Tool control procedures are a set of instructions for the proper control and use of tools.

Kitting (usually followed by "out/up") is a chiefly British usage that means; to provide appropriate equipment.
of engine model specific borescope special tooling. of borescope equipment specifically designed for each model of engine.

A borescope, as you probably know, (but others may not) is a piece of optical equipment used for the inspection and measurement of bores in engines, armaments etc.

OSHA is the Ocupational and Health Safety Administration in USA and Canada.

Aha, now I got it.

engine specific is like an adjective bofore borescope.

Are you sure that kitting means here the appropriate use of equipment?

The extract is from American presentation.
I thought it means: to put the right borescope along with other instruments in a kit with a specific engine.
In Quality world they recently started shipping sets of equipment in a cardboard kits, with manuals, instructions and so forth to ease the work at the assembly.

Alexander.

Hi Alexander,

Yes, engine model specific modifies borescope.
Kitting means providing the equipment.
A kit is a set of all the equipment needed to assemble something.

It may mean what you suggest, but it's not clear to me.
This kind of jargon is sometimes difficult to figure out if you're not familiar with it.
Regards,
Vladimir.
